Library Automation
SVU Library is total automated for its in-house operations by using SOUL (Software for University Libraries).
Library circulation systems are totally automated.Books issues and returns are computerized. Computerized library ID cards are issued to various categories of users viz., Students, Research Scholars and Faculty Members. Users will be informed automatically through SMS to their mobile numbers about issue of books, due date, and other events of the library. Book procuring and processing also computerized.

IT INFRASTRUCTURE
Digital Library
SV University library is a participating member of UGC INFONET Programme. Under this programme, the V-Sat facility to have access to Internet is installed in SVU Computer Centre. The INFLIBNET has provided 1Gbps connectivity to S.V. University. The Computer Centre has provided Internet connectivity to all the Departments/Institutions on the Campus. Under this S V University is getting about 15000+ E-Journals and other E-Resources.
In order to provide access to Full Text E-Journals and Databases available under UGC-INFONET E-Shodh Sindhu Programme Library has established a Digital Library with a provision to accommodate 40 users at a time.

We have created a Home Page for SVU Library. It can be accessed from any where over the Internet. It provides an over view of the Library covering brief history, services provided, working hours, general rules, basic statistics regarding collection, different sections of the library and details of Professional Staff working. It also provides link to access Online Journals under UGC-INFONET Programme, Online Open Access journals, Digital Library of Ph.D. Theses, E-Shodh Sindhuand and SVUL OPAC.
On line Journals under UGC-INFONET Programme:
Access is provided to about 15,000 full text electronic journals and databases published across the globe covering all fields of knowledge starting from Agriculture to Zoology under UGC-INFONET Programme (E-ShodhSindhuProgramme).

Online Open Access Journals
Thousands of Open Access Journals are being published in electronic form over the net by different Societies and Non-Profit Organizations. Any one can access the full text at free of cost. We have provided a link from our home page to all these journals.
Digital Library of Ph.D. Theses:
We have designed and developed a Digital Library for Ph.D. Theses submitted to our University by using DSpace, an Open Source Software developed by HP and MIT, USA. At present, we have digitalized 3,000 Ph.D. Theses and uploaded them into the Shodhgangadatabase. In future, we would create Digital Collections for M.Phil., Dissertations, Students Projects, Faculty Publications and Question Papers Bank.
OPAC:
We have provided a link in our Home Page to SVUL OPAC ( Online Public Access Catalogue ). It can be accessed from any where through Internet. Readers can sit in their respective libraries and departments and they can search the Library Database to find out the availability of documents of their choice in SVU Library
